If you’ve ever hired an agency that promised results and delivered excuses, you’re not alone.
And if you’ve ever tried running your own Facebook and Instagram ads and felt like you were just burning money, you’re not alone in that either.
After years of running Meta ad campaigns exclusively for coaches and course creators, I’ve noticed that the problem is almost never the ads themselves. It’s something that happens before the ads ever go live. Something most agencies never ask about, and most business owners never think to consider.
I call it The Magic Mix.
This is what I’ve learned.
The Thing Nobody in My Industry Wants to Say Out Loud
Let me tell you the most dangerous thing someone in my industry will tell you.
“Just hire the right agency and your ads will fix everything.”
I’ve been running Meta ads for coaches and course creators for years. I’ve seen the inside of more ad accounts, funnels, and launches than I can count. And I can tell you with complete certainty: that belief is not just wrong. It’s expensive.
Ads are not a solution. They are a system. And a system only works when it has something real to work with.
Hire a mediocre agency with a proven offer? You’ll probably still see results, because the offer does the heavy lifting.
Hire the best agency in the world with a broken funnel, an unclear message, and an owner who’s checked out? You will light your budget on fire.
This is the thing nobody in my industry wants to say out loud, because it risks losing the client. But I’ve built my entire business on saying it anyway. The clients who hear it and nod? Those are the ones who win. Every single time.
Ads are a multiplier. And a multiplier only works when there’s something worth multiplying.
What I’ve Seen After Years Running Campaigns for Coaches and Course Creators
I’ve worked with a lot of people. Coaches just crossing six figures who are ready to pour rocket fuel on what’s working. Course creators sitting on something genuinely transformational who just can’t get it in front of enough people. High-ticket service providers who sell beautifully in conversation but have never cracked cold traffic.
After running campaigns across every corner of this space, I started noticing something. The results weren’t random. There was a pattern.
The clients who saw the biggest wins, the ones whose launches broke their own records, whose lead costs dropped month over month, whose businesses genuinely scaled, all had certain things in common.
And it wasn’t the size of their budget. It wasn’t the niche. It wasn’t even how long they’d been in business.
It was something subtler. Something most agencies never think to ask about before they take someone’s money.
I started calling it The Magic Mix.

The Magic Mix: Three Things That Have to Be Present for Ads to Actually Work
Three things have to be present for done-for-you ads to truly work. Not two of them. All three. When they’re all in the room at the same time, something almost unfair happens. Results compound, momentum builds, and every dollar works harder than it should.
Miss one, and you’re pushing a boulder uphill.
- A Proven Offer
Not a perfect offer. Not a polished offer. A proven one.
This means people have bought it. They’ve gone through it. They’ve gotten results, or at the very minimum, you have enough data from real humans to know what works, what needs work, and what the core transformation actually is.
The clients I see scale fastest with ads come in two types:
- Type 1 has been selling their program organically for a while. They know their ideal buyer inside and out. They have testimonials, case studies, and real-world proof. Ads don’t create momentum for them. Ads pour gasoline on momentum that already exists.
- Type 2 hasn’t run ads before, but they’ve done the hard work. Beta cohorts. Discovery calls. Real feedback from real humans. They know their offer works. They’re just ready to scale what they’ve proven.
What both types share: they are not asking ads to validate their offer. They already know it’s good. Ads are simply the mechanism for getting it in front of more people, faster.
If you’re still figuring out what your offer is, what the transformation looks like, or whether people will buy, ads aren’t your next step. Clarity is.
- A Partnership Mindset
This one is harder to define but impossible to miss.
My most successful clients don’t disappear after onboarding. They don’t treat the agency relationship like a subscription service they never think about. They are present. They are engaged. They bring their energy to the partnership.
What does that look like in practice?
- They come to strategy calls with new ideas, a different angle, a new offer, a hook they heard their audience use in a Facebook group.
- When we say “this creative isn’t converting, we want to test something new,” they say “let’s do it” instead of “but I love that image.”
- When results are slower than expected, they get curious instead of panicked.
- They treat feedback as data, not as criticism.
I’ll be honest: I’ve had discovery calls where someone wanted me to just execute their instructions and stay in my lane. Or where they hadn’t figured out their offer yet, but wanted ads running anyway. Those conversations always gave me the same feeling. Not judgment, just a clear signal that this wouldn’t work. I don’t like wasting people’s money. And I don’t do my best work when I’m second-guessed at every turn.
The best partnerships I’ve ever had feel less like vendor and client and more like a growth team that happens to be split across two organizations.
- Momentum Already in Motion
Ads reveal what’s already there. They don’t create it from nothing.
The clients who see the fastest, most dramatic results are the ones who already have something moving. An email list that’s warm. An audience that engages. A launch history that tells us what their buyers respond to. A funnel that converts, even at small scale.
This doesn’t mean you need to be at a certain revenue level before ads make sense. It means there needs to be some evidence of life. People engaging with your content. Leads coming in through organic means. Conversations happening.
When we add paid traffic to a business that already has organic momentum, the results are almost immediate, because the market has already told us what it wants. We’re just showing up in front of more of the right people, with messaging we already know works.
When we add paid traffic to a business with no momentum, no audience warmth, and no conversion history? We’re starting from zero. Which isn’t impossible, but it’s slower, more expensive, and requires a fundamentally different game plan.
The Magic Mix isn’t about being big. It’s about being ready.
What Hiring a Done-For-You Ads Agency Actually Buys You
Let me be direct about what you get when you hand the keys to a team like mine.
You’re not paying for someone to press buttons in Ads Manager. A $15/hour VA can press buttons. So can a boosted post. You’re paying for pattern recognition that takes years to build, and that you simply cannot shortcut your way to.
We’ve seen what you haven’t seen yet.
We know what a healthy cost-per-lead looks like in your niche. We know when a funnel conversion rate is a creative problem versus a landing page problem versus an audience problem. We know which metrics actually matter, and which ones Meta loves to surface to distract you from the ones that do.
Every mistake you might make, chasing the wrong KPI, scaling too early, letting the wrong campaign drain budget, launching without testing, we’ve seen it happen dozens of times. That institutional knowledge is what you’re actually buying.
We speak the language of your niche.
Coaches and course creators are not generic businesses. The way your buyers think, the objections they carry, the transformation they’re searching for, these are specific. The way a webinar funnel works is different from an e-commerce funnel. The way you speak to someone considering a $3,000 program is different from someone buying a $30 product.
We live inside this world. We understand your audience, often from a different angle that’s actually more useful, because we see patterns across many businesses in the same space.
We hold the strategy so you don’t have to.
The most underrated thing about working with a great agency isn’t execution. It’s the cognitive relief of having someone else holding the strategic thread. You shouldn’t have to wake up wondering if your ads are working, whether your budget is allocated correctly, or what to do when performance dips.
That’s our job. And when it’s done right, it frees you to do yours.
Let’s Be Real About the Fit
I’d rather tell you the truth upfront than take your money and have us both be frustrated three months in.
Over the years, I’ve gotten better at recognizing the signals early. Some clients come in already primed for success. Others come in with patterns that, if they don’t shift, will make even the best ads strategy fall flat.
This is not the right move if:
- If people aren’t buying it without ads, ads won’t fix that. Get some organic proof of concept first. You haven’t validated your offer yet.
- Done-for-you is not done-without-you. Your voice, your direction, and your energy still matter. You want to hand it off and disappear.
- That’s a different kind of relationship, and honestly not one that produces the results we’re proud of.You want to be the strategist and have us execute.
- Meaningful results require meaningful investment. We’re not the right fit for a $500/month testing budget. You’re not ready to invest in real ad spend.
- The best results come from creative risk and iteration. If every suggestion is met with resistance, we’ll spend our energy on the wrong things. You’re not open to new ideas.
This is exactly the right move if:
- You have a proven offer and you’re ready to scale it.
- You want a strategic partner, not an order-taker.
- You’re open to testing, iterating, and improving across your ads and your entire funnel.
- You show up to the partnership with the same energy you want your results to reflect.
- You want someone who has been deep inside this niche and knows what winning looks like.
The businesses I’m most proud to have worked with are the ones that came in as true collaborators. They brought the offer, the vision, and the audience knowledge. We brought the technical expertise, the creative strategy, and the pattern recognition built from running hundreds of campaigns in this exact space.
A great agency doesn’t replace your momentum. It multiplies it.
If This Sounds Like You
If you’ve read this far and you’re nodding, that’s not a coincidence.
The people who resonate with what I’ve written here are the same people who show up as my best clients. They’re already doing the work. They’re already seeing early signs of what could become something big. They already understand that scaling is a team sport.
They’re not looking for someone to save them. They’re looking for someone to run alongside them.
That’s what MomentumUp Marketing is built for.
